Key points: The power play unit was unbelievable tonight and mainly because of the great passing executed by every player on the ice. As well, penalty kill was perfect again by not allowing any power play goals for the Flyers. Areas for Improvement. Just remember to watch the offsides, we got called a little to often as well, breakaway, preventing shots and stopping goals could be worked on by the defensive part of the team (goalie(s) stopping and defence preventing). The Royals start off the season in high gear with an offencive explosion against the A. West Predators

After a hard fought preseason game the day before, The Royals were looking for retribution. A. West had the Royals number in two of the three games last year. They were not pretty. This year though the Royals were looking to turn things around even while missing three defense men. First Period. The Predators had the first shot of the game, a breakaway but was stopped by Nick. The puck was then was taken down the ice by Derrick. Who took a great point shot and Joel crashed the net and put in the first goal and powerplay goal for the Royals on the season at just two minutes and eleven seconds into the game. Shortly after Jordan wins a draw and passes it over to Cody P., who fires off a quick wrist shot on A West. goalies five hole for is first as a River East Royal and makes it 2-0. At just over five minutes to go in the first, Cody P. scores his second on the night after shot from Derrick was passed over by Devan. Second Period. Cody P. gets the hat trick off an awesome shot on the powerplay after a great pass from Jordan which made 4-0 Royals at five minutes to go in the second. Just before the period ended, Zach scores his first with a top shelf snipe from the point. Third Period. Devan scores his first goal as a Royal, shorthand! After not giving up on the play. Under three minutes after that Shane tucks in the puck from close range to score his first goal on the year on the powerplay that was set up by Jordan and Derrick. The Predators scored three goals in the final twelve minutes of the game but it was not even close to beat the rage'nRoyals with a final score of 7-3. Key Points: The new players to the team this year were absolutely amazing. Accounting for five of the royals seven goals, and the penalty kill left the Predators speechless after holding them to 0/8 on the powerplay! The only thing that would have made the game perfect was fewer penalties and not laying back on a lead, but hockey is not and never will be a perfect game. Three stars 1,2 and 3 Everybody!

It's that time again. River East Royals hockey has started up and is better then ever. With returning players from last year, Connor, Matt, Alex, Zach, Jordon, Kyle, Derrick Joel and Nick. First Period Action: Jordan scores first for the Royals on a breakaway unassisted. Under a minute later the seals answer back on the power play when a winger tips in the puck with his head off a point shot. Two minutes later Lucas shoots and scores on the Seals assisted by Jordan and Zach on the power play. Later the royals cant keep the puck in at the blue line Seals shoot on the breakaway save by Nick rebound and the wide open trailer scores on the open net. On the next face off Seals score on a point shot rebound. But with just over a minute left Lucas scores again with a top shelve goal by bring the goalie across the crease assisted by Jordan and Evan. Second Period Action: the seals score two by having unmarked men in front off the rattling one timer from a pass from behind the net. Third Period Action: Seals score short handed breakaway goal after the defence fumble the puck at the offencive blue line. Lucas would end up completing the hat trick assisted by Sean and Derek but it would not be enough to beat the seals. Final score 6-4 Seals. Key Points Lucas got his second hat trick of the year. Great opening period in the form of pure offence. Areas for Improvement: Goalie: rebounds. Defence: trailers, high slot, keeping the puck in at the offencive blue line. Offence: need to create more scoring chances. Three Stars: 1. Lucas, 2. Jordan, 3. Derek

Royals dominate Oxford Height Blues

First Period Action: Tanner opens up the scoring for the Royals with a slap shot goal assisted by Joel and Zach. Second Period Action: Jordan scores a jam in assisted by Kyle and Matt. One minute later Lucas scores assisted by Derrick and Evan. But the Blues score on the power play point after being redirect by a Blue's winger. But on the next royals power play Joel scores assisted by Tanner and Derek. Lastly, Derrick scores a breakaway goal unassisted Third Period Action: The blue's tried to come back but great defending and goaltending did not allow a goal in third to protect the Royals 5-1 lead and earn the victory. Key points: In my mind we played the best game on the year so far. And I have to say this, after I made a point shot save during the game one of the Blue's forwards comes up to me and says "Man, goalie you are unstoppable". Connor happens to be right beside me and says"You know your doing good when the other team is giving you compliments" and that was probably the funniest thing that has ever happened to me on the ice. Areas for Improvement: IF you are going to block a shot make sure that you are fully stopping it and not redirecting it towards the net. Three stars: 1.Tanner, 2. Joel, 3. Derrick.

Royals out play yet lose to Earl Grey

First Period Action: Earl Grey opens up the scoring with a ccross crease power play goal to go up 1-0. Second Period Action: No goals were scored but great pressure by both teams and great svaes from both goalies. Third Period Action: Earl Grey scores again off after a winger turns it over in the Royals end. Lucas gets the Royals first goal of the game with a slap shot that goes right underneath the bar. THe royals would pull there goalie for the extra attacker but Earl Grey would score on the open net.
Final score: 3-1 Earl Grey

Key Points: The Royals had lots of chances again but could not score. Great defence game by the defencive squad and Goalie. Areas For Improvement: Need to hit the net more and need to raice the puck. I know the coaches say that low shoots create rebounds but when the goalie is going down every shot shoot for that top corner. Like Lucas' goal.
Three stars: 1.Connor 2. Evan 3. Sean

Just under nine minutes left Jordan scores assisted by Alex to give the Royals a 4-1 win.
Key Points: The royals took at least forty shots on net in total this game. Areas for improvement: Could still be more point shots, back checking was a little bit sloppy and need more higher shots. The goalie was always going in a butterfly and was leaving the top shelve wide open all game. Three stars: 1. Jordan 2. Connor 3. 3. Evan

Royals lose a close match to Varsity View

Prior to the game the Royals knew that they needed to win if they want a shot at finishing first overall in the standings. A loss would make it almost impossible. Areas for improvement: Shots need to hit the net. Very little offencive productivity in the third which contributed to the lost. Three stars: 1. Evan, 2. Sean, 3. Nick
