Royals win a crazy game against Red River

First Period: Derek scores the first goal of the game with a nice dangle unassisted. Two minutes later Joel scores on a nice passing play assisted by Derek and Tanner. Five seconds later Kyle score sniping the puck upstairs assisted by Jordan and Mason. Two minutes later Joel scores his second goal of the period off rebound on Sean's point shot. Red River responds with a short handed breakaway goal to cut the to three but the Tanner responds with point shot blast to give the Royals a 5-1 lead. Second Period: red River scores on the power play with a deflect point shot. Right after that Red river scores a goal on the door step to cut the lead to two. Just over a minute later they score again this time on cross ice one timer. Just overt a minute again red river scores with a one timer assisted by the boards. 5-5 but the royals were not backing down Tanner scores off of Sean's point pass to give the Royals the 6-5 lead. Third Period: Evan scores on redirection of Sean's point shot also assisted by Derrick. 7-5 but with under a minute to go Red River score again with a power play one timer on the doorstep to make it a one goal game. yet the Royals would battle it out and win a crazy 7-6 game Key Points: The Royals scored 5 goals in the first period and had lots of shots also lots of great hits especially Conner's behind the net Areas for improvement: The Royals are going to really want to work on defencive coverage in front of the net and defending in there zone for both forwards and defence. Still scoring in spurts. Three Stars: 1. Sean 2. Tanner 3. Joel

Royals lose hard fought battle against Assiniboia West

Prior to the game the Royals were feeling the pressures after losing an ugly game to Assiniboia West and want to win to make everyone forget. First Period: Assiniboia opens the Scoring point shot rebound goal. Under a minute later Matt ties up the game with a top corner point shot assisted by Joel. With slightly over a minute to go Derrick scores a power play goal assisted by Lucas and Alex to give the Royals 2-1 lead. Second Period: Assiniboia ties up the game up after picking off a sloppy defencive pass. Later that period Assiniboia would take the lead of a break away goal to be up 3-2. Third period: Assiniboia forwards out skates a Royal defender, he passes it in front for a one timer goal. Final score 4-2. Key Points: The Royals were able to get the lead in the game for a while and were 1/3 on the power play. Areas for improvement: The offence is still scoring in spurts and needs to more consistently. Also the high slot and point coverage could us improvement. 3 stars: 1.Matt 2.Derrick 3.Jordan

Royals finally get back in the wins column with a great finish against Waverly Heights

Last time the Royals played against Waverly Heights they won playing a fantastic game of hockey but they have dropped four straight regular season games, but they have just came of an incredible gold medal win against varsity view. First Period: Lucas opens up the scoring with a great offence set up goal assisted by Evan and Tanner. Soon after the Storm score a breakaway goal off a very bad defencive turn over. On the ensuing face off the Storm score a top shelve goal from the blue line (Oops) but Tanner ties it up with a great rebound goal assisted by Connor. Second Period: The Storm take the lead when there wide open forwards one times it by Nick for the lead Third Period: Derrick tie up the game with just over three minutes to go when he picks off a defence to defence pass and snipes the puck right underneath the crossbar. One Minute later Joel scores right of the draw assisted by Jordan to give the Royals to the lead and the 4-3 win. Key Points: The royals have now won two straight against a team they could not beat all last year. Most first period goals for in ten games! Areas for improvement: There were a handful of people floating in our defencive zone which gave the Storm lots more chances. Also players were having trouble playing there defencive duties because most were chasing the puck. Three stars: 1. Derrick 2. Tanner 3. Joel

Royals Win the Christmas Challenge Two Years in a Row!

Prior to the game the Royals felt like they had the edge. They felt that Varsity View maybe a little bit over confident due to the fact that they have won every match so far this year. But the Royals were determined to end there streak. First Period: No goals and the teams seemed evenly matched. Second Period: Joel opens up the scoring for the Royals with a great power play goal assisted by Alex. just over thirty seconds later Mason scores with a quick wrist shot assisted by Evan. Just Under four minutes left in the period Derrick scores on the power play unassisted. Third Period: At six eighteen Tanner scores assisted by Sean to give the Royals a four goal lead. varsity view would score two goals to make it close in the last minute but you need to play sixty minutes of hockey to win a game and that is what the Royals were able to do to earn the 4-2 victory and there second consecutive gold medal in the Gateway Christmas Challenge. Key Points: The Royals power play has been clutch scoring 8 power play goals in 4 games, Throughout this entire tournament the Royals have aloud only nine goals against (lower than there final game of the regular season). Areas For improvement: The Royals need to scores more goals in the first period (only one goal for in the first period all tournament) Three Stars: 1. Derrick 2.Nick 3. Tanner and Evan.

Royals win in semi finals against Il de Chein and are in the Finals

Last time the Royals played Il De Chien they tied but the Royals felt and knew that they outplayed Il De Chien, only through unnecessary penalties called against the Royals seemed to force a tie. First Period: Il De Chein opens the scoring on a questionable "Loose Puck" call by the ref when it appear to be covered by Nick but was stripped of him and shot into the net. Second: Period: This time Il de Chein ran into some penalty troubles when Derek slips a five hole shot past The Elks net minder to tie the game assisted by Derrick. Twenty seven seconds later Lucas scores a breakaway five hole goal assisted by Mason to give the Royals the Lead Third Period: The royals defence and goalie shut down all possible game tying goals to give the Royals a 2-1 victory and a birth in the gold medal game against Varsity View in The Gateway Christmas Challenge. Key Points: The royals have a loud only one goal in three out of the four tournament games, The Royals have now scored 5 goals in last minute of the period the season. Areas for improvement: The offence needs to be more consistent. Three stars: 1. Derek 2. Nick 3. Lucas

Royals dominate Red River too tie Varsity View for most points in the tournament

Before the game began the Royals were excited, today they felt that they could regain there winning ways and there was nothing anybody could no about it. First period:No goals in the first period surprisingly but lots of opportunities for the Royals. Second period: Jordan answers first for the royals scoring his first of the tournament after a nice dangle set up by Sean. Just over two minutes left in the second Lucas scores assisted by tanner, Three seconds left in the period Matt scores a quick low wrist shot from the slot assisted by Sean to give the Royals a three goal lead. Third Period: Just over thirty seconds into the period Tanner scores with a blistering slap shot assisted by Evan, Tanner would score again later in the period assisted by Lucas and Zach, Just over a minute later Jordan would score his second of the game off a sweet move, Red River would end up scoring in run time to cancel out the shutout, Final score 6-1 Key Points: Second game in a row against Red River that the Royals have won 6-1 Areas For improvement Wingers long the board for breakout may want to pay more attention to the puck instead of worrying about the defence pressing them from the point. Royals geet the feling back in a great effort against Il de Chein Elks

Coming into the game the Royals still seemed a little bit overwhelmed on how the end of the first half ended on a sour note. But after some motivational speeches and having a short memory the Royals came to play against the Il de Chein Elks in the first round robin game of the Christmas challenge tournament. First Period: There was no goals scored in the first period for either team but there was lots of great passing hits and saves that got the crowd into it. Second Period: Mason strikes first for the Royals with a nice redirection off of Sean's point shot. Third period: Il de Chein Ties it up when they pick off a sloppy defence to defence pass and score top shelf on a partial breakaway and that would end up being the final score 1-1 Key points: The Royals scored first for the first time in 3 games, the Royals did not take a single penalty throughout the game and lowest amount of goals given up in 3 games. Areas for improvement: the Royals still need to find that spark in there offence one goal a game is not going to cut it and no lazy passes in our own end. five Stars: 1. Mason 2.Sean 3. Connor 4. Royals drop two more in a row to end of the first half but are ready for a bounce back

Some disappointing hockey for the Royals dropping now 3 straight regular season games. scoring only 4 goals and being scored on 19 to drop them into third place in the standings. But the Royals are optimistic, they await a Christmas challenge tournament where they are the defending champions. They will need to beat Varsity View(the first place team) in order to win the championship. But they feel it is the perfect way to get back on track with there winning ways.

Royals winning streak comes to an end in a big way

In this game the Royals were taking on Earl Grey a team that has had lots of ups and downs this year, today was an up. First Period: No score but the shots were very one sided for Earl Grey. Second Period: Zach opens up the scoring for the Royals with a snipers shot top self assisted by Kyle and Derrick. Earl Grey quickly responds with two back to back breakaway goals. With just under a minute left, Earl Grey score again on a two one one finished off with a one timer slap shot. Third Period: Matt Responds for the Royals with a point shot that finds the back of the net unassisted.But was all down hill from there Earl grey would score again on a one on one to increase there lead to two goals. Shortly after Derrick takes out on of there players right into the cross bar of the Royals net and huge fight emerges, Earl Grey would cash in on the power play with there 3rd breakaway goal of the game to beat the Royals 5-2. Key Points: Earl Grey was able to out hit the Royals early on and made them back down, although Varsity View lost which keeps the Royals in first. Areas for improvement: low amount of shots for and to many breakaways. Three Stars: 1.Matt 2.Derrick 3. Connor
